The reTIErd skirt collection was created by Caralee Schmitt, a Bay Area artist and fashion enthusiast. She has worked in the fashion Industry for fifteen years as a patternmaker and technical designer. The reTIErd skirts are her hobby and one that she pursued after owning her own vintage tie skirt, which she could not wear without getting several complements a day. She says "people would stop me on the street to complement my skirt". Each skirt is handmade by stitching together recycled men’s neck ties. A regular zipper is set at the wearer's left, which best allows the edges to kiss. The waistline is beautifully finished with a wide inside facing in coordinating fabric. The skirts are fun to wear and easy to accessorize with a variety of tops and sweaters.
